Workshop on Business, Human Rights and the Environment in the Andean Countries

We are excited to invite you to the upcoming workshop on “Business, Human Rights and the Environment in the Andean Countries,” organized by the Centre of Human Rights Erlangen-Nuremberg (CHREN) and the ADLAF Working Group on Andean Countries.

Despite strong legal recognition of rights in the Andean region, business activities - especially in extractive industries and large-scale agriculture - continue to cause significant socio-environmental impacts.
This workshop will provide a space to:

- Analyze and discuss the social and environmental consequences of business operations in the Andean countries within the global (political) economy.
- Examine domestic and transnational governance tools designed to address and assess adverse business impacts, and explore how these tools function in diverse local contexts.
-Identify innovative strategies and initiatives for transforming business-related human rights and environmental challenges, such as responsible business models, new alliances for socio-environmental justice, and enhanced corporate accountability.
